What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complementary and alternative (CAM) system of medicine. Homeopathic treatment is based on the Law of Similars and the Law of the Minimum Dose. This allows for holistic patient assessment and treatment, using highly-diluted remedies which stimulate the body to heal and aid in the restoration of wellbeing. Homeopathy is nationally and internationally recognised as a CAM system of medicine. In South Africa registered homeopaths are homeopathic doctors that are registered and regulated by Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa.
What does Homeopathic treatment involve?
Homeopaths diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses and conditions which includes acute and chronic conditions such as various infections, allergies, arthritis and skin conditions. Homeopaths play a vital role in the healthcare system in South Africa. Formal homeopathic training prepares Homeopaths as primary contact providers, who treat patients from various age groups.

Dr Maharaj has a keen and avid interest in advancing homoeopathic research in South Africa.She has actively supervised over 40 Master’s Degree dissertations in the field of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and Homoeopathy and is currently supervising numerous students.
Dr Madhu Maharaj qualified as a homoeopathic doctor with a Master’s Degree in Homoeopathy from the Durban University of Technology (DUT). She is also a certified Ayurvedic Primary Health Advisor. Dr Maharaj has been in active Homoeopathic practice for 23 years. She began her practice in Pietermaritzburg, Chatsworth, Durban Central and has settled to practicing in Westville since 2004.
